Always have a good time here. Its a hole in the wall type of place but its fun and good place to bring some friends. You must try the tiny hiny. I dont know if its b/c Ive had a couple of drinks but that sandwich is silly. Its a steak and cheese or chicken cheese steak with hot peppers. Its spicy but so good. I stop by every time im in the area. Its a steelers bar so watch out ravens fans.

I actually like this bar better than the other dives in town. Beer selection is good, and the service is as well. Food is well done bar food, which I appreciate b/c even if I'm falling off my chair, it doesn't mean I can't taste the food. My little brother likes it b/c he can eat out of a dog bowl. Hey, when in Rome, haha...

Simply delish. For all pittsburgh fans and those who live awesome bar food!

A cool bar to have a few beers and an appetizer. Lots of beers to choose from. The staff were really friendly and the cheese steaks were awesome. I would say out of everything on the menu, they definitely do this the best. I am not a Pittsburgh fan, so I did feel a little out of place, but even as a Ravens fan, they didn't give me much grief. I will definitely visit them again.

Sports Bar atmosphere. Food, service, and prices were all good.

meh. My friends and I had dinner here the other night and all I can say about the food is meh. I got the meatloaf and fries entree, which was pretty decent, but something was off about the gravy. It had a strange flavor, like the spices were just an off-combo. After dinner, we stuck around to listen to the cover band perform. Since we had eaten dinner, we were able to just stay at the table and watch the people on the dancefloor. Ummm let's just say, if you're a cougar hunter? This place will be heavenly for you!!!

If you are from western Pennsylvania, and want to head to a great place that serves up the best food with an eastern shore flare, then Buxy's is the place for you... the atmosphere is typical of a sports bar... but it is kept very nice... and if you love the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates or Panthers, then... you're in the right place. I love the Chesapeake Wings (guess what they are flavored with) and Irish Fries..... You have to try the Sweet Potato Fries too (to die for) and the Chesapeake Wrap.... great menu, stop often to try everything!

Had to catch a pgh bar in ocm. Wanted to watch a pirate game and that was the spot. Drinks good and bartenders were amazing. Lotsa pittsburgh decor made is feel right at home. Didn't eat but burgers looked great. Good crowd.

If you happen to stumble in here on a night with football being played watch out! It's Steelers heaven. Raven's fans beware! Their food is very good for what type of menu that they have. Great burger and cheese steaks!

My wife and daughter went for a lunch today. The food was just ok. We got wings and crab dip. The wings could have been coated with more sauce. The crab dip came with stale chips. We requested fresh ones and was not a problem. When the bill came, we had realized two sodas came to $7.90. We were price shocked. The drinks came in a "stadium"cup which is a yellow plastic cup with their logo. We took them home. I would ask about them if you don't want the added cost. Is was more expensive to drink soda than the lb of wings we had. This is my second time there. I have noticed service was slow when it's us super busy or off season like today. The servers were very nice. There are other place to go in oc. Maybe try to green turtle.

Typical bar food. The bar is filled with lots of Pittsburgh memorabilia. The food I ordered was better than what I had earlier on in the week (Hammerheads) but not the best. Did it's job though. Probably wouldn't come back though.

Great place with great staff. Unique food options with several types of pierogies. We had a little bit of a wait but it was worth it. There was something for everyone.

Great food. Great service. Was on vacation from NYC. Went for dinner and to watch a game. All the food looked great but I Had to come back for that Reuben sandwich.

  • Mary B.

Good food but a bit overpriced. The whole place could use a good cleaning. They were out of several menu items when we went in and it wasn't even dinner time yet. My kids loved that their food came put in dog bowls.

My husband and I went here Saturday night because we were staying nearby. It was a great place to escape the senior week crowd and hang with the locals. Husband got a cheesecake and it was great. So was my crab cake. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Will go back!

Awesome service, spectacular dry rub on wings (old bay), out-of-this-world cheesesteak. We've been coming to OC for over 20 years and visit here every time!

If you are in the Ocean City, Maryland area and looking to watch a Pittsurgh sports game then look no further that the Salty Dog. We were in Ocean City for the first season game and they went all out. They put up tents in the parking lot with 7 additional tv's. They had 50/50 raffles going on for jerseys and other prizes. It was just like being in Pittsburgh watching the game.

It was a cold rainy night. Looking for a place nearby, we stumbled upon this place for a few drinks. The draft menu was larger than expected. As the night continued, we moved to the bar. It was a bit disturbing that (at least I felt) they over served a 50+ year old couple. The lady couldn't even physically get into her cab. The bartenders were fairly attentive but distant (flirting with the young girls at the bar). Prices were average for the area. I'll admit, it was pretty awesome that there was so much Pittsburgh sports stuff all over the walls.

Buxy's is legit. Thursday is the day they do Cheesesteak specials; Cheesesteak Mania! Only suckers pay retail, so I say go on Thursday. It is a solid example of what you want in a Cheesesteak. Buxy's is a Pittsburgh bar, with plenty of memorabilia, a nice big bar and plenty of seating. A decent place to watch the game, or go to get lit. On certain nights they have Dj's and there is usually a good crowd dancing and drinking and having fun. Check it out and put Buxy's on your short list. *** UPDATE *** Went to Buxy's a few days ago, The new Perogies menu items are way good. I went with the fried onions... Like I said - Way Good!

Best bar and Restaurant by far! ! Pittsburgh bar all the way !! Go Steelers, Pens, and Buccos !!!

Delicious food, cold beer, best "small town" bar in Ocean City. They're everything Pittsburgh! If you want a taste of a steel city pub, hit up this bar. You won't be disappointed!

  • Kelsey S.

Staff was all friendly and attentive. Walked in during a weeknight and the place wasn't that busy. Foodwise this was nothing to write home about. Typical bar food and ambiance. Lots of tvs and they were playing popular music. If you're a Steelers fan there's lots of memoribilia to check out. Parking is located behind the building, so just go around the block if you missed it.

Bartender was friendly and helpful choosing beers, but chicken tenders, with fries were almost inedible.

What a great experience this was for us. Came in and met the owner right off. Welcomed by friendly staff and excellent waitress. The food was incredible and reasonably priced. It's a Pittsburgh sports bar and restaurant and the menu reflects that. I had The Lemieux and it was very filling and tasted great. Will go back again and again. Good to have such a great place in that area.

Being Pittsburghers, we had to come and experience a little slice of home while in OC. There was a Pirates game on so we figured we'd grab a few drinks and watch the Buccos! Service here is a little all over the place. We waited about five minutes before the host came over to seat us. We wanted to just sit at the bar but no spots were available so we grabbed a high table. We ordered drinks off the waitress who still seemed to be learning her job (she also was extremely weird when ID'ing us - making us smile like our pictures and inspecting to make sure it was us) and then moved over to the bar when spots became available. The bartenders were much more attentive and were quick to give us some more rounds. Drafts were about $3-4. Average. The only reason this place is worth a visit is if you're a Pittsburgh fan. The memorabilia is cool to look at and it's fun to cheer for your favorite hometown teams while away on vacation. However, I don't think I'd return unless a Pittsburgh game happened to be on.

Casual sports bar perfect for Pittsburgh fans. The right amount of divey with a pretty large menu.

Great customer service! The food is always good, so far I have no complaints. My husband also loves the steelers which is what brought us there in the first place. We always stop in at least once when we're in ocmd!

I came here for a quick dinner and drinks while the WVU game was on during Labor Day weekend. My favorite menu item was the cheese steak. Lots of meat and veggies smothered in cheese. I also had a few bites of: Burger - patty seemed pre-frozen, wasn't good at all Seafood Perogies - pretty good Crab Dip - nothing special, could've used more lump crab I was excited to see Summer Shandy on the list of draft beers. When I ordered it, our server said the keg was kicked and that I had to order something else. I was really disappointed. At least tell me that before I decide what beer I want to order. The service here wasn't very good. Our server seemed really annoyed with us and I had to ask for water and napkins more than once. Overall, I'd be back for a cheese steak and a Summer Shandy (if they have it) and sit at the bar.

Great place to eat. If you're from Pittsburgh, this is your place. Decent food. Bar ambiance. Nice staff. The cheese steak pierogies are amazing. Cheesesteaks on point. A little pricy but if you want a place that you don't have to wait an hour for, this is your place. Very homey feeling. All my friends enjoyed their meals. On Sundays it's a fun place to dance. Feel free to stop in if you're looking for a place to eat that is satisfying, and you don't have to deal with the shore dinner rush.

Decided to check out this place while on a recent trip to Ocean City and it was close to our accommodations. Pleasant atmosphere, but that's where the positives ended. Waitress brought us menus and said she would be back to take our order. It wasn't very crowded, but our waitress seemed to have disappeared. We caught the attention of another, who said she would get ours, but after 20 minutes the waitress still had not returned, so we left.

Decent bar food with ok atmosphere. This was very close to our hotel in OC so we went here twice for lunch. My kids loved that they serve the kids' meals in a dog bowl. The food was okay, but spotty. The pulled pork special was amazing, which is why we went back, but the one we ordered off of the regular menu was just okay - was that a different cook or are those 2 sandwiches that different? The mac and cheese (kids) was pretty good and homemade but the corn dog bites (kids) was greasy and disgusting. The nachos were below average and were smothered with raw onions (HUH?). For some reason I didn't try the sweet potato fries, but the regular fries were not very good - McCain Crinkle Cut fries, I think. Good beer specials started at 3pm! I think our Yeuglings were $1.50 each. Most of the booths were falling apart, so in need of upgrades on the restaurant.

Thee place for Pittsburgh sports if you are in Ocean City! Food looked and smelled superb. Bar staff was excellent! I mean, it's a vacation spot, you're gonna spend money, so enjoy yourself!

3.5 Stars. As any good fan knows, "Steeler Nation" is insanely accurate because they represent everywhere. Of course that includes Ocean City, MD. Founded by a Western Pennsylvanian, Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon isn't shy about flaunting its Black and Gold pride, which certainly looks better than anything purple. Blah. Anyway, we walked over here from the hotel to grab a bite and drink. It wasn't too busy and got a booth in the back corner. The laminated front-and-back menu was far from extensive but I thought the Chesapeake Wrap with grilled chicken, crab dip, Old Bay, bacon, cheddar, lettuce & tomatoes sounded good. It certainly was and they don't skimp on the portion size; very filling. Plus, our waitress was very attentive and friendly, which made sense once we found out she attends our Alma mater. Go Hawks! Although minor, the two things I found a little disappointing were you have to pay for fries as a substitute side (if you don't want chips) and there are no free refills on soda unless you pay more for their "souvenir glass," which both pumped up the bill a bit. Aside from that, Here We Go!

$4 for a soda? Had dinner there last night. Wife and I split a pitcher of beer for $6. Daughters soda was $4! I have 2 homes in OC and quit eating at Buxys due to their jacking up prices crazy but figured it was time to try them out again after 3 years. Food is ok , nothing you can't find elsewhere in town. Service was good , so I added a star.

My group and I decided to switch things up and with advice from people we met at seacrets decided to go to their local spot Buxy's. This was our extra day we decided last minute to stay in OC MD so we were looking forward to a good time on our last night. Upon arriving at the door, I noticed it reminded me of our hometown bar from the outside, but inside was a different story. Music vibe wasn't horrible and drinks we're properly priced compared to Seacrets but the atmosphere was offputting. A group of blonde girls and guys we're looking and snickering at us like they never seen Filipinos before. Later I went to the bar for our last round of drinks and prior we used another older bartender and had table service by a young lady who both provided good service but this younger bartender with headband looked at me like I was the gum on the bottom of his shoes. I asked for four drinks, to close our tab we had previously, and he just gave me four shots ignoring my request to close the tab 2x. After rejecting a credit card payment I then gave him cash. He charged us $25 and when I have him the $25 he said to me "What, do they not pay you at your job to work?" Transaction wasn't completed in my eyes and I told him I tip on the bar as I did the whole night even got a bell rung for a good tip to the older bartender. I told him you don't ask for a tip you get one. He proceeded to argue with me and I had to step back to stop him from going back and forth with me. He kept asking why I was mad to other customers like they knew what went on. It was super awkward and was glad that they were closing because at that point no more of our money would be spent on that kind of establishment. My advice to others would be to stay away from this bar if you are not a local or do not resemble the clientele accustomed to the area. Sunday 8/10/2014.

It's a sports bar, which I don't care either way, they all look the same to me, bunch of tv's, bunch of pics and memorabilia and a bunch of Go Team stuff. What got me excited was the food. I'd eaten here before and had an amazing cheese steak, so I wanted to go again and bring my wife. Yeah...we were the winning team that night. I had the perogies smothered in steak and cheese...so damn good. Mrs. B had the surf and turf burger which is a burger covered in crab dip, she loved it. The burger was huge ( yeah she couldn't finish it...yoink mine). It was cooked to perfection. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the portions great. My only suggestion is they rethink the no soda refills unless you buy a plastic mug. I hate cold drinks in plastic mugs, it's not as refreshing as a ice cold soda in a glass glass. Fountain soda is cheap guys, don't force the chatchki mug on us.

Sour smell here permeates the place. Diet soda mix was off. Wanted to like it. We've been here before. Tried the Cheesesteak for lunch. It was salty and ok. Fries were great.

If you are a fan of anything Pittsburgh, then you may want to try this place out just for the decor, otherwise, the was typical overpriced bar food. I got a buffalo chicken wrap, which was a special, and it actually wasn't bad. My wife got a Chicken Chesapeake sandwich, which was ok. The bummer was they charge almost $3 for an order of frozen Orida Crinkle cut fries. If you're going to charge for fries like that, at least make sure they are homemade! We saw some really cool menu items online, which is why we came, and when we got there, the waitress told us they didn't have those anymore. We were kind of bummed because that was one of the reasons we came! The waitress didn't seem to know a whole lot about the menu either. The kids meals came out in Dog bowls, which they seemed to like. Another thing that bothered me, which seems to be a trend at most resturants, is the fact that these places nickel and dime you. I asked for side of ranch dressing for my wrap, and my wife asked for Tarter sauce for her sandwich, and we got charged a dollar. You guys in OC need to cut that out, your food is already overpriced as it is. I don't recommend this place unless you are steelers fan looking a place to hang your sorrows with other steelers fans! :-) It got 2 stars only because the Chicken wrap wasn't bad.

This is another one of those "Ocean City" Bars I just love. It's dark. It's loud. The food is average but the atmosphere is great. Bartenders know their stuff. Live music on the weekends. Just a great place to catch the game and throw down a few with friends.

Every year I visit OC and Buxy's Salty Dog. I love the steamed shrimp at happy hour and drink specials. The staff are great and welcome you every visit. Besides the shrimp I've eaten the specials of the day. I never had a complaint about the meal I received. Not really a "family place" unless mom and dad want to have a beer or two. The place gets busy in the evenings when offering entertainment.

Update for the 2013 season! LoML and I returned (this time as husband and wife!) for more drinks and fun at Buxy's. I still cringe at the extensive Steelers decor, but I'm going to - after all, I AM a Ravens fan. :p To my shock and amazement, we actually drew the same exact server (Kelsie) - not only did we remember her, but she remembered US as well! I was pretty blown away by that - it's been a year, but we must be pretty memorable, heh. LoML had a couple of drinks (I think he got a Matty Miami, some disgusting blue concoction, and a Salty Dog signature special - I don't know what's in that, it's on the menu), while I finally had my Candy Appletini, the drink that I've been pretty much jonesing for all year long and still can't find anyone else to make it the same way. Was it good? You're damned right it was. I don't know who the live band was for that night, but they weren't bad. I saw a couple of people dancing (and I mean real dancing, not this "shake your ample booty" bull that most pass off as dancing these days) near the bar, and the crowd was pretty lively. I think that the Pittsburgh Penguins won the NHL first round championships that night, so it was packed full of hockey fans. I didn't dare have more than the one drink due to my diabetes diagnosis, but I would have if I'd been allowed. One star off, however, for the condition of the women's room - tampons all over the place? Really, ladies? The Purple Ladies of Baltimore have WAY more class than that. :p (A staff member did rush in there to clean, however, once they were alerted, so kudos for that.) We'll definitely stop back into Buxy's next year. This is a good place to be. Even if it is full of Steelers fans. :p Tip for Diabetics: I can only provide guidance on the Candy Appletini, if you decide to try it - be warned, it'll spike your levels into the damned stratosphere AT FIRST. My levels were a whopping 212 right after consumption - however, an hour after I'd gotten home (about 2.5 in total) it had sunk back down to 115. Be aware if you're prone to high, sudden spikes like that - it may or may not hurt you. As always.... Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor. YMMV. Seek medical advice and tailor my review to your situation. I simply provide opinion.

Changed my review from 4 to a 2. Loved this place and had now 2 a terrible experiences in a row. The service and food were so bad tonight that we left. Thank Goodness the Pirates game was on or I would have given a 1.

Great dive-bar with delicious, greasy bar food! The owner must be from Pittsburgh, PA as there is sports memorabilia from the city on all walls. The staff was friendly & attentive. We had cheese fries which were a ginormous portion with more than adequate cheese. I got the pierogies with cheese steak on top. I thought that they were delicious. They were completely unhealthy but so yummy. We also had a cheesesteak. The portion, again, was giant and a bit over-peppered. BSDS is a comfortable bar with decent bar food. Worth a visit.

I was excited to try a huge burger that they promote in magazines around the area. Upon arriving I quickly looked on Yelp to see if kids were welcome, and it appears to be. Unfortunately a drunk older man at the bar was yelling for most of the time we were eating, and the bartender appeared to continue serving this person. That is the only reason I would not bring my kids again. I was also disappointed when I found out the burger I wanted is for summer only. I settled for the chili burger (prepared medium), and it was served fully cooked. I was actually glad it was fully cooked when it came out, because the burger was obviously not homemade and it tasted like it was in storage for awhile and the patty was stiff. The pickles, tomato and lettuce on the plate did not appear to be fresh, and the jalepenos were wilted. We also had to return the kids orange juice as it was brownish and the kids gagged when trying it...from their kiddie cups we did not notice at first. Waitress was helpful and pleasant. Otherwise, this place was not welcoming, food was not great and I won't return.

Don't stop. Keep goin. This was an awful experience. The hamburger with crab meat was inedible. Service was just as bad. Kids meal in dog bowl was pretty cool, but the fries were half done and not good. Only reason we stopped was because we had a free kids meal coupon. Wasted meal.

If you like dive bars and poor service than this place is the spot for you... Been here many times as I have spent many summers in OC but the service is less than consistent. It's the Sunday night locals spot and it can be fun but if you don't know the bartender you better hope it isn't busy if you are thirsty. Have stood there waiting for 20-30 min for a drink on more than one occasion as people come and go around me. And when I finally do get my order taken I get a cocky attitude from some of the bartenders like I am inconveniencing them by asking them to get me a drink. And my order is usually beer or a rail and soda. Easy stuff. I usually don't go because I want to but because that is where friends want to go and it's closer to me than the other Sunday hot spots. Convenience. It's a very small bar and some nights it gets packed. Floor is usually filthy and wet by the end of the night so don't wear nice shoes. Have had some fun nights here but usually not. Go at your own risk
